This is my picture for the day because I was really proud of myself. I kicked the bag of chips off my bed and it spilled all over my stuff into my equestrian bag and everything. I could have been so mad and gotten angry and upset but instead I just laughed about it. Can't sweat the small stuff! So that made me happy.

Megan and I went on an awesome date tonight, from dinner to a movie to a cinnabun to the arcade. We had such a blast! Today was full of smiles, AND, this was what I found on the door in the bathroom in the mall. I thought it was really awesome, because I know every person has parts in his or her own life that may not be the same in another person's life. I also know that some people may not agree with these parts of other people's lives that are different from their own.
What makes me happy may not make you happy, and what makes me sad may not make you sad. What everyone has to understand is that everyone has the same emotions, and different things trigger different emotions for different people.
And you know what...? That's what makes life beautiful.

Today is a really special day for me. 18 years ago today my father passed away, Rest in Peace Daddy.
On his behalf, I spent the whole day smiling. This picture was taken at my first team meeting of the semester, which was tonight. I love when my team and I reunite. If you notice the thing in the middle of the table, its our coach! Haha! He was conference called into this meeting.
Anyway, take time to notice the happiness in this picture, and then in your own life.

My best friend Chelsea and I were craving donuts, each picked a glazed one and then decided wed share a pink frosted. But THEN we decided it was a terrible idea and one each was enough. We shoved the pink one back in the tray and promptly paid for our donuts and left. We had a whole bunch of good laughs, though.

This is pretty much what I was hoping to get lots of pictures of. A moment where I notice the beauty in life from something as simple as snow on the ground and the trees, with a darkening sky and the lamps on. What a nice view from the top of a flight of outside stairs on my campus. Nature is truly something that makes me smile.

Finally had the chance to get back into a studio and practice.... I went to Yoga Shivaya in Tarrytown, NY, for the first time.
Check it out here:

It was a small class but the teacher, Kristine, was so calming and motivating at the same time and I really enjoyed the positive energy and vibe of the studio and the teacher. I had a lot of big smiles on my face during the class.

While indulging in one of my favorite activities, smoking Hookah, I noticed that a piece of tin foil reminded me of the head of an elephant. So, I ripped it just a little bit more, and then filled in a few lines and dots, and this is what I got! A beautiful elephant head made from tinfoil and a permanent marker. BIG SMILE!
My first night back at school my sister Melanie and I went to my favorite place for dinner, this tiny little sushi place in town that makes you feel like you're literally in Japan.
Except for the sitting on the floor part.
I wish! That would be amazing.
Actually, theres a place in New Jersey where you can opt to sit on the floor for dinner and the table is set lower so that it's possible. It's amazing.

Today was fabulous. I woke up early, had a cup of coffee, went outside and enjoyed the wonderful weather. Went on a trail ride, soaked up the sun, had a great time with 4 cool people, and then spent the rest of the day with Momma. It's my last day in Florida before I fly back, so we went to downtown Mt. Dora and hung out for a few hours. I got this awesome coffee mug. It says PEACE. LOVE. COFFEE. and it has a cool peace sign on it. I love it! I also got a fun computer skin for my laptop called the "Wall of Lennon." It's pretty cool too. We had such a nice, got some cupcakes and had awesome dinner at that same Mexican place we had gone to a week or two ago. I got the same thing. It was excellent. What a great day, my momma makes me smile.

I know this looks like quite the boring picture, but digital cameras/ipod cameras/cell phone cameras can never ever ever capture the essence of a night sky. I'd say this is actually a good shot for a digital camera! This is the full moon that was so bright it lit the paths in the woods and cast shadows. It was amazing. I went out on a moonlight ride tonight on my trusty new horse, Sapphire, who I officially adore! She was phenomenal. We rode out to Lake Dore in the Ocala Forest and enjoyed the beauty that was the night sky with this amazing full moon.
How could you NOT smile and be happy beneath something so breathtaking?
No picture could do that lake justice with the full moon beaming above it. How perfect.
Paisley and I had such a beautiful day today! I spent nearly the whole day laying in the grass outside my house. It was the best weather probably of my entire month down here so far! We literally just laid outside all day long, I spent about an hour in a beautiful yoga practice and Paisley thoroughly enjoyed chasing butterflies. Would you believe they are out right now down here!? It's just amazing. What a full, wonderful day of happiness.
What made you happy today?
Today... may have been the best day of my life. I joined the Cowboy Mounted Shooters of America (CMSA) team, the FLORIDA PEACEMAKERS. I went through my new shooters clinic today, and I know for sure this is about to be my next biggest sport. Mounted shooting is like barrel racing with an extra kick, which is why I think I loved it so very much. This shot is the shells from my last round today. I shot 3 rounds off my horse, Zanzabar, today. The shells I saved were from my last round of the day. WOW! How amazing. Just goes to show you, guns dont have to be a symbol of war, anger, hostility, and misery. Today was all smiles, laughs peace, and happiness.

Also, as a side note... I went to an all you can eat sushi buffet tonight. Best. Way. To. End. The. Best. Day.

I AM SORRY!
Another picture of one of my animals! Haha! I can't help it though!
I know shes small, but when she curls up into a little ball, it makes me grin like a toddler who found something awesome under the couch.
(On a side note, I got to see Jim, a grandfather figure of mine since I was really young. I haven't seen him in 3 or 4 years, and it was quite exciting! I love to see all of these people I haven't seen in so long. This has been quite the year for that. Who else is in store?)
It's not that I want this to turn into a blog about my animals or anything, but they really do make me smile! On the off days when I'm not out running about (aka the days when I step off the set of My Life As a Movie), I just spend time with my little ones and they really do make me smile. One of my most favorite things is when my cat Taboo lays on my chest and purrs. It's like a lullaby for instant shut eye.

This is my best friend Misty's little brother. I've known him forever, and he makes me smile no matter what. Even when hes trying to beat me up with his karate moves (he's only 9 and studying now for his black belt!), he still cracks me up. Hes my shot for today because tonight he was making us keel over laughing by sliding down the steps in his house on all different things, from the top to his wooden toybox, to a laundry basket (note the background) to this blow up sled he has. (Wait...why does he have a sled when he lives in Florida?)
He's great.
CH Rancho Seimon
Better Known As.... Guinness.
I rescued him when I was just 14 years old (he was 9!). We barrel raced and worked really hard at what we did. He made me a lot of money and qualified me for National Barrel Horse Association State Championships AND World Championships. He doesn't get ridden anymore, but he does a really awesome job as a companion for my baby horse, Duncan, who isn't even broke under saddle yet.
(see his blog at: danielledunfired.blogspot.com)
He always makes me smile.
This is a great shot to sum up today. I headed into Orlando to meet up with Scott, a representative for Ourlando, a nonprofit organization that is part of the Local First Movement. (If you aren't aware of what that is, its basically a movement to put chains and franchises on the backburner and focus on bringing local and independent (indie) businesses to the forefront. Its happening all over America!) This cafe is called The Drunken Monkey and I will honestly say its one of the best cafes I've been in. They offered free wifi, amazing snacks (completely vegan friendly!), great FAIR TRADE coffee, and a fabulous ambiance. Also, very friendly people. What a great day, followed by a reunion with a great friend from high school, Alex, who I hadn't seen in three years. Yay!

I had such an amazing day today, filled with not one second of boredom. I went to the Florida Carriage Museum today for a wonderful Horse Breed Expo. We saw tons of fun things including Kuchi, the first Gypsy Vanner born in America (http://www.vannercentral.com/Kuchi.html), beautiful Standardbreds doing dressage, multiple horse drawn carts, a team of Cowboy Mounted Shooters (http://www.cmsaevents.com/index.cfm), a whole bunch of drill teams on horseback, and tons of other human and equine athletes.
Some things worth noting, before I discuss why this specific picture was the one I chose:
A drill team made up of two incredible people: A completely blind woman and a woman with traumatic brain injuries. The two women both rode on top of amazing horses that worked hard to please them while they completed patterns and gave us a wonderful show. You can see the organization they ride with, Stirrups and Strides, here:
http://stirrupsnstrides.com/default.aspxAmazing horse drawn carriages, all types from all different eras: there were tons of carriages in the museum, from royalty carriages to carriages for the house slaves. From carriages that needed 10 horses to carriages that were pulled by a goat! It was phenomenal. If you are ever in Florida, check out the Florida Carriage Museum:
People I haven't seen in 3 years: I definitely did not go to this expo to run into anyone I hadn't seen since I left Florida. Of course, if that could happen in any situation, I would love it to! But I didn't even have the idea in mind when I went there. I did, however, run into 4 AMAZING people I hadn't seen in years. John Dalziel, an amazing trainer whom I worked with very closely and love dearly, happened to be part of the expo, with some of his beautiful horses and riders there. He is the coach to Paso Espiritu, a beautiful Paso Fino Drill Team (http://web.me.com/valmarc/Paso_Espiritu_Drill_Team_LLC/Welcome.html). Nancy, his partner, who is also affiliated with Paso Espiritu as well as the Lake County Sheriffs Mounted Posse Patrol (https://www.lcso.org/bureaus/MOUNTED%20POSSE%20PATROL/). They are such amazing people. I also ran into my good friends Jim and Sharon whom I used to ride with all the time while I lived down here. I was thrilled to see them! They have many types of horses, including a pair of beautiful Belgians who pulled the Hummer Cart (pictured above) at this Expo I was at and also at the Basel Art Expo in Miami. They are also polocrosse players! How amazing.
Finally, my explanation on the photo above:
I chose that picture for the day because this work of art represents so many things that I think are important. To me, it is amazing modern art. Kudos to Jeremy Dean, the artist. Also, to me, it represents history. You can read more through the links I will post, but during the Great Depression, when people couldn't afford to own or drive a car, they were converting junk cars into HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGES. They were known as "Hoover Carts". Also, I think it can represent the future. If (when?) the price of gasoline rises above $5.00, a great amount of the American population will not be able to afford to drive a car. My car is already $70.00 for a full tank, and gas was barely at $3.00 where I live. When it hits $4 or more, I will have to find other ways to get around! Haha! And finally, it represents the green movement to me. People of our world need to begin to figure out more sustainable ways to do the things we do every day. The more our population grows, the more destructive we get. The Hummer H2 puts a terrible footprint in our earth, but this artist took it and turned it into something that puts less of a foot print than the SmartCar! Check out some of the links I'm posting if you're interested.

First and Second Barrel at the wonderful MC Arena in Florida. Wow. I have no words and one million words are the same time for this shot. Went there tonight for the first time in 3 years. When I left to go back to NY, I didn't come down to visit at all, so I haven't been here since before I moved out of FL. It felt so good to be there again with all the beautiful people that run their amazing barrel horses there. Especially considering I spent practically every weekend there in high school. Oh how I miss the rodeo life.

It is total coincidence that yesterday and today have such similar pictures. I was trying to make myself a glass of ice water, and I'm wondering, as I have been for quite a few days, why the refridgerator is having trouble dispensing crushed ice. I just figured that it hadn't made enough to push it down the chute fast enough, but you'd think after days of this I'd wonder why there wouldn't be enough ice and if something was wrong with the ice maker. (I didn't think of it for one second...)
In any case, I'm waiting and waiting for my crushed ice to come out, and finally! it does start coming out. I let go of the button and pull the glass out to find not only crushed ice, but crushed frozen veggies in my glass as well!! My mother didn't have room in the freezer, so she put the frozen veggies on top of the ice box, which is actually open on the top. They must've fallen into the ice box, and I started grinding them a few days ago. Finally, the grinder got through the bag and, here is the result! Crushed veggies in my ice.
Mom and I found this hysterical.

I wasn't expecting every day to have some amazing shot of something really cool that I did. Lets face it, I may be cool, but I don't do something THAT cool every day, like run through water with my horse or watch a live band at Midnight on the turn of the year. I actually thought, when I had this idea, that each day would have a very simple picture, just something small from the day that really made me smile. So, here is that first picture. A glass of Sweet Tea, something so simple and so very southern. Sweet Tea, for me, is a reminder of my child hood and also my favorite place that I ever lived in my numerous times of moving: Florida. I didn't live in Florida when I was very young at all. In fact, it reminds me of my childhood only because Sweet Tea is something that my mom has always loved, and we would search for it every time we were in a store. Lipton made bottles of it which we would find only sporadically, and mom would buy a whole bunch of the bottles to keep in the house. Otherwise, she'd have to make it. But, when we moved to Florida in 2005, we were so happy to find that Sweet Tea practically gets served in restaurants like water up north! Everyone drinks Sweet Tea, and every place has it in great abundance. It is definitely the drink of the south. So, I do love Sweet Tea, and as I was sitting in my kitchen with this glass of Sweet Tea during lunch time, I couldn't help but smile. I immediately snapped a shot before I finished, since it was gone practically one minute after I poured it.

This year is just amazing so far! I have wonderful feelings about what is to come throughout the entirety of the year. Today, I went trail riding with an old friend of mine, Misty, who I used to spend practically every day with when I lived in Florida in high school. We brought along two others, and the 4 of us rode out into the Ocala National Forest for about 4 hours. In the middle of the ride, we stopped at a lake to dismount and have some lunch in the beautiful sunlight. We got to tie up our horses and sit on a cushiony bed of pine needles to rest and have our lunch. What a GREAT day! After lunch, we got back on and decided to let the horses get a drink from the lake, but it actually turned into a swimming break, because the horses were loving the water! Misty and I raced out of the water a few times, and the horses had a blast. This is a shot of me and my wonderful horse, Zanzabar, having so much fun in the water.

I rung in the wonderful new year in the beautiful 65 degree weather, beneath a sky full of stars and in front of a wonderul band (Remedy out of Lake County, Florida) playing fabulous renditions of classic rock and country songs. I was surrounded by such beautiful people. It was the first year of my entire life where I wasn't in front of a TV (or the actual ball itself) to see the ball in Times Square, NYC, drop. I thought this might ruin my New Years Eve midnight-turn-of-the-year experience, but instead, I enjoyed the smell of fresh air on my family's resort ranch in Florida with the sound of a live band counting down the seconds to midnight. How perfect.

Last year I saw the movie Julie & Julia and thought her blogging project was just phenomenal. I decided soon after that that I really wanted to create my own blog throughout the year of 2011. Well, over the summer of 2010 I had turned a corner on the road of life and somehow ended up going the opposite direction. What I mean is, my life turned completely around, and I spent the rest of '10 in utter bliss. In June of 2010 I started practicing yoga at this wonderful studio called Happy Buddha Yoga (happybuddhayoga.com) and from the moment I walked in there, I kid you not, my life was changed. Where does this come in? Well, I started realizing the happiness in lots of the small things in life. I told someone a story once about how, though I have always loved Autumn because of the changing of the leaves, I never noticed it the way I did in 2010. I literally remember the first day I saw a leaf half green and half yellow. I began to see everything in a new light. So, for this year, I decided on the perfect new year's resolution: I will document every day by posting a picture and note of something that made me happy that day.
So, heres to my resolution. I hope the things that make me happy can make other people smile as well.
Happy 2011, everyone.
